I don’t quite understand why writing is intimidating process? It is the simplest form of expression which I am stupid enough to make it complicated. I try to sound smart by writing perfectly.
The initial phase of any form of expression I believe are always complicated because of it. Usually, people start writing by getting inspired and try to create whatever they admire. It’s normal to have high standards but it’s fatal when you are just starting to create.
After all, they are doing it for so many years and you are starting to hold the pencil. Mistakes are inevitable, but that’s how you are gonna develop taste. At the end of any writing if you feel that the piece is not worth it, do not publish. Notice that you get to decide at the end of it. Hence you cannot ignore the prerequisite, which is to write at the first place.
Another trick that is quite helpful, vocalise while you’re writing. As I’m doing it now. I have seen people reading out their content loud after they have written. I do not understand why we can’t do it while we are writing. It is a fun way to write more because I don’t know, you just keep talking and there goes the words spit out.
Initially, you might believe that your writing isn’t moving a needle. It does, it’s in your head because you start thinking more clearly. And this is what good writing does, it’s an conversation with yourself. In a bit theraputic way, you are your own listener as well as the patient.
At the end, it’s all about fun, if you don’t enjoy it you will not continue it. In order to have that, you have to pick topics that makes you curious and more importantly you haven’t processed yet. This way I hope you will make yourself suprise when at the end of the session you figure out something novel.
I like creating and building therefore any outcome that surprise me I feel very proud of that. This way of approaching this problem is quite interesting, don’t you think? It comes back to the problem of sounding smart. If you are surprise by an outcome of yourself you can consider it smart. And you don’t have to worry about sounding perfect, because it’s all about you. You are already complete.
